Members of Western Region's Area 7 held a memorial service to honour their ancestors.

The ninth day of the ninth month on the lunar calendar is known as Double Nine Festival. According to Chinese traditions, this is the day when people climb mountains and sweep clean the tombs of their ancestors. Nowadays, while some people still honour the tradition and take to the hills on this day, many opt to take this opportunity to pay respect to their deceased family members in other ways.

This past October, members of Western Region's Area 7 held a special memorial service to observe Double Nine Festival. Members offered prayers and incense to their ancestors. A similar memorial service is held in March every year. At both services, approximately 60 members gathered at the SGI Canada Vancouver Culture Centre to pay respect to their ancestors and to offer sincere prayers as a community.
